Listening to sound alone week 3

Writer's picture: Ryan BrooksRyan Brooks

This week I have took all my sound that I have recorded and collected into a Pro Tools session and stared to build the basic structure using music, sound effects and atmos to keep track of all my sound that imported into the session to build the effect that I wanted to convey to listener. Once I had the mountain ambiance sounds in place I took the time to place the winged creature in to the section that I wanted to have this is where I encountered the problem of the flame sound that I used did not sound big enough so I used the spaced plug in to add a large open space impulse response. This fixed it slightly but it was not as good I used a 7 band EQ to boost the low and low mid-range of frequencies. This helped a lot but I still wanted to have a decent amount of reflections so I added a medium ambient reverb to the track. All of this give my winged creature the scale in its sound to be a very large and impressive creature.

I then had a look for the music that I would use in the soundscape but I had trouble deciding what kind of music I would use for this so I decided to wait before choosing so that I could get a better idea of what I wanted it to sound like
